After more than a year on display at both the Burke Museum and Hall Health on the University of Washington Seattle Campus, I am now in possession of my Giant Pacific Octopus piece! I am very proud of this piece and it is very special to me for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it was this piece which sparked my intrigue around combining ink with watercolor. The success of this piece lead me to pursue more pieces in this style and it has since become my favorite way to paint.
Secondly, I love this piece because it’s a portrait of a giant pacific octopus. The octopus is my spirit animal. They are amazing organisms and I am astounded by their elegance and intelligence every time I see one. I photographed this particular beauty at the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre in Sidney, BC.
While this piece has been a highlight for me, I hope that it can now bring joy to another. The piece is now for sale and comes professionally matted and framed. It can be purchased in the “originals” tab, or by following the link here. It is also up and can be seen on display at Schilling Cider House in Fremont. Catch it quick, before someone else does!
